The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in year 1964 in the Institute for imparting B. Tech. Degree in Mechanical Engineering with intake of 30 which was subsequently raised to 60. Department started two part time M. Tech. programmes in “Mechanical Engineering Design” and “Industrial Systems Engineering” in 1973 and 1976 respectively with intake of 10 in each course. Department started one full time M. Tech. – Computer Aided Design programme in year 2000 with intake of 18. The B. Tech. programme is accredited by N.B.A., AICTE, New Delhi.
Department is proud of having rolled out significant number of graduate / post graduate students who have been well accepted in industry, research & development sector and are doing excellently well in their pursuits in the country and abroad. With the changing scenario quite good number of B.Tech. students are also opting for higher education in engineering, technology and management .
Department is actively engaged in number of research and developments projects funded by AICTE, Govt. of India , Council of Science & Technology, U.P. etc. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has well qualified faculty which offers a sound foundation for future development of its graduating engineers through teaching, research, community service and consultancy. The development of our students as future successful engineers, managers and technical specialists is always the priority of Department. We also provide ample opportunities for the development of life skills and responsible leadership through participation in student activities through Association of Mechanical Engineers – a professional society of students of Department.
